Tonic was appointed for a long-term consultancy by The Arts Council of Wales to implement the Resilience Programme across multiple arts centres. The Resilience Programme is designed to prepare organisations’ commercial activity to maximise financial independence.
At Galeri Arts Centre in Caernarfon, we reviewed all elements of catering and operational procedures. Following an in-depth Financial Analysis of current income and profitability, we examined and compared local competitive markets. This established a detailed understanding of the customer demographic and their expectations.
We recommended a move away from a complex and inappropriate fine-dining menu concept and implemented a contemporary Café, with focus on high quality, local ingredients.
The implementation of the Café concept and associated staff training led to a clear improvement in day-to-day operations efficiency and sales growth. Following the implementation of Tonic’s recommendations, the business swiftly evolved from considerable loss making, to being profitable.
